A proposal for a new entrance to Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts, London. Eleven years since its transformation into an art college, the form of education continues to evolve and is reflected in how the space lives from day to day. As a listed building, dramatic transformation can be economic, sustainable and apposite. Working with Merrett Houmøller Architects, Priest configures through slide presentation an inclusive landscape; offering a stage for events, a plinth to exhibit upon and a space to sit. Referencing the distinctive red brick of the former barracks, laid end-up, the space will quietly converse with the geometry, texture and lighting of the Rootstein Hopkins Parade Ground.
